Salary to Hourly Calculator

The Formula

Monthly Pay = Annual Salary / 12
Example: $60,000 / 12 = $5,000/month

To find your monthly pay from an annual salary, divide by 12. This gives you the gross monthly income before any deductions. Most salaried employees in the U.S. are paid either monthly (12 paychecks) or biweekly (26 paychecks), which slightly affects the per-paycheck amount.

This conversion assumes 12 equal monthly payments. If you are paid biweekly (every 2 weeks), you receive 26 paychecks per year. Biweekly pay = annual salary / 26. Two months per year will have 3 paychecks instead of 2, which can be useful for savings or extra debt payments.

Monthly vs. Biweekly Pay Schedules

Monthly pay (12x/year): You receive one paycheck per month. Easier for budgeting against monthly bills like rent and utilities. Most common for higher-salary positions.

Biweekly pay (26x/year): You receive a paycheck every two weeks. Most common pay schedule in the U.S. Two months per year will have a third paycheck — often called "extra" paychecks — which can be directed to savings or debt.

Semi-monthly pay (24x/year): You receive a paycheck on the 1st and 15th (or similar). Similar to biweekly but with 24 pay periods instead of 26, meaning slightly larger per-check amounts.

For a $50K salary, monthly pay is $4,166.67, biweekly is $1,923.08, and semi-monthly is $2,083.33. The annual total is the same regardless of schedule.
